Scholarship Opportunities with October Deadlines

LendEdu Scholarship - Deadline: October 15, 2017
High school seniors and current full-time college students may apply. Must be a U.S. citizen with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in high school or college.  Submit a 750 word or less essay for the following question: "With more people taking on student debt to pay for college and record high default rates, what do you think can be done to improve the financial literacy of our nation's young adults to help this problem?" Information and to apply visit

The Horatio Alger Scholarship - Deadline: October 25, 2017
Open to high school seniors. Must be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2018 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation. Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution). Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required). Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and Be a United States citizen. Suntrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes -  October 30, 2017 to May 14, 2018
High school seniors or college undergraduates may apply. No GPA or financial need required. Starting September 12, 2017, students can enter online once during each entry period. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.
