2017 Junior Achievement Essay Competition

This competition is sponsored by David M. Rubenstein and was founded in 2008. Each year, high school students in Greater Washington are invited to submit a 1,000 - 1,500 word essay and compete for over $110,000 in college scholarships. In addition, the school in each of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia with the greatest number of eligible applications will receive a $6,000 award. 

This year's topic is: "Several great entrepreneurs, including Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, dropped out of college before getting their degrees. How important do you think a college education is to your future success?" 

Who Can Apply? 9th - 12th grade students enrolled in an accredited high school or accredited home school program in Junior Achievement's Franchised Region on the date on which he or she submits an application.
